Fiji’s Suncoast show for the first time at FTE 2016

Tourism Suncoast, our destination marketing organisation (DMO) for the north shore oif Viti Levu in Fiji, joined together and for the first time exhibited at the Tourism Fiji’s Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) in May 2016.

Many Tourism Suncoast members participated at the expo including:

Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE)

The Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) is Fiji’s premier tourism industry event. This year marks the third consecutive year for the event – a uniquely designed Fijian tourism experience for international buyers.

Hosted by Tourism Fiji, our National Tourism Organization, the event provides a cross-sectoral platform for partners in the tourism industry to engage directly with international buyers and travel trade media.

In 2015, the event saw a growth of 30 per cent compared to 2014, with more than 600 hundred people attending the event over three days at the Denarau Island Convention Centre.

Team Fiji

The theme for FTE 2016 was Team Fiji – conceived from the idea that together all partners in the industry have a stronger presence in the global market. Team Fiji is all about coming together with a view of building a bigger and better tourism industry in a sustained and holistic way.

FTE 2016 built on and enhanced last year’s event to showcase the great diversity and quality of products available in Fiji to the existing and new international industry partners. For over three busy days with appointments and schedules, Tourism Suncoast members had the opportunity to meet and engage with international buyers and media.

The event took place at the Sheraton Ballroom and Convention Centre on Denarau from 3-5 May, 2016.

FTE 2016 was the ideal avenue for Tourism Suncoast to meet and engage with over 200 international buyers and media and brand itself as a go to wedding destination and to raise awareness with Tourism Fiji and other partners. Tourism Suncoast is well known for its scuba diving, self-drive holidays, romance/honeymoons, family vacations, budget/backpackers and destination weddings.

“Participating in the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) has given our businesses and our products credibility with Tourism Fiji and the general public,” said Allan Carter, Secretary of Tourism Suncoast.

He continues “Fiji’s Suncoast, a region that was hit hard by the recent Cyclone Winston earlier in the year, view our participation in the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) as a promising opportunity to work together with Tourism Fiji in promoting our destination and our products. This will assist us in re-establishing the region from the the damage caused by the cyclone.”

Tourism Suncoast’s participation was made possible by our partnership with MDF.

MDF’s partnership with Tourism Suncoast is focused on marketing the destination and creating a stronger brand through increasing membership from tourism related businesses in the region and supporting their participation in key tourism events.

“MDF’s support gave us the platform to represent in this expo which helped us to interact with Tourism Fiji and potential clients for our wedding packages” said Allan Carter.
